The story behind the story of Charles Henry Bond
By Janice K. Jarosz
For the over eight years I served as clerk to the Saugus Board of Selectmen, this portrait was originally hung in the lobby of the Saugus Town Hall, prior to the renovations - staring right at me all of those years while working in the Board of Selectmen office.
Many times visitors from out of town would ask me to take them on a tour of the building of which I was more than happy to do.
When asked who the two large portraits were I explained one was Wendell Phillips and the other Andrew Carnegie, the gentleman who donated funds to the first library.
