i m fredericka witfield. a historic moment for all of the world to see after 70 years, great britain has a new monarch. king charles iii was crowned today during a coronation ceremony at westminster abbey. the nearly 400-year-old crown was placed on his head officially marking him as the new king. god save the king! god save the king! also being crowned, a new queen. king charles s wife camilla receiving her crown during that ceremony. there was elation over the coronation in the streets of london. tens of thousands lining the streets to catch a glimpse of the royal family. the king and queen waving to the public from the gold state coach there, which was originally built back in 1762. and then a royal salute from 4,000 british troops. hooray! in a moment some have been waiting for days to see, king charles and queen camilla and the royal family stepping onto the balcony of buckingham palace to greet the clouds lining the mall. it was a day many will never forge
a few funny moments. one of them that went viral was katy perry the singer couldn t find her seat, it seemed. so she kind of walked around befuddled for a little while. she tweeted later, saying, don t worry, i did find my seat. there was about a timing mixup of prince charles and his son. charles arrived at westminster abbey before his son, sort of waited in the carriage for a few minutes . a lot of people certainly wouldn t have noticed or cared. this was an amazing exercise in crowd control. people were along the mall for the duration of the day with the exception of the end of the ceremony where they allowed people to come down here toward buckingham palace to see the royals waving on the balcony.
