Katrick: Sweet teeth and family excursions for Easter

NEWARK - My mother loved sweets, especially a box of chocolates. I inherited her sweet tooth which meant lots of trips to the dentist.
We’d take bi-annual family excursions to Faroh’s Fresh Home-Made Candies in Lorain, Ohio. To get there you had to cross the Charles Berry Bascule Bridge. When the bridge was built in the late 1930s, it was the largest in the world.
It was an extra treat when it opened up and we had to stop for passing ships. I thought that was pretty cool. But it was cooler going to Faroh’s. You got hungry just walking into that place.
