The FBI in San Francisco is implementing new strategies to combat hate crimes after two Asian women were stabbed at a bus stop in the city earlier this week.
The San Francisco division of the agency announced on Thursday that it planned to ramp up investigative resources, improve coordination with law enforcement partners, increase community outreach and expand public awareness around hate crimes. FBI San Francisco is surging our resources to combat hate crimes, and we will use all authority granted to us by federal law to investigate civil rights violations, FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Sid Patel said in a statement.

The FBI’s San Francisco office announced a renewed effort to targeting hate crimes, which comes as new numbers confirm a spike in anti-Asian hate in the early part of 2021.
SAN FRANCISCO - Officials with the FBI s San Francisco Division announced Thursday a new strategy to combat hate crimes this amid an uptick in hate crimes being reported against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
Under the new strategy, the FBI will train more special agents to conduct hate crime and civil rights investigations, as well as conduct outreach to community groups, religious organizations, and minority associations to strengthen trust and encourage the public to report hate crimes.
