CHARDON â The sweet smell of maple syrup will hopefully fill the air once again this spring for the annual Maple Festival if the Geauga County Health Department accepts a modified plan for the event.
Festival President Annie Royal presented a proposal to City Council last week as a modification to the traditional Maple Festival reducing or suspending most of the festival events and activities to promote a healthy community as the worldwide coronavirus pandemic continues.
âIt was very important to me that we have a plan moving forward with the Maple Festival and in regard to the pandemic,â Ms. Royal said at the Jan. 14 meeting. âLast year when we had to cancel, we saw that it was important to the Chardon community and the main goal of the Maple Festival is to promote the education of maple syrup production and also to bring together our community.â
