The Ebenezer Methodist Chapel, in West Wylam, Prudhoe, has been marketed for sale by Foster Maddison. The building is billed as a development opportunity - subject to planning and lifting of covenants. A covenant on the building states: to not use the said premises or any part thereof or any building, structure or works at any time erected, constructed or placed thereon or permit the same to be used for any purpose other than as a Chapel or Church but The Coal Authority could lift the covenant. Locals are opposed to the sale, with Prudhoe Town Councillor Russ Greig heading a petition - which has, so far, attracted over 100 signatories.
