IRVINE, Calif. A man who called his probation officer and said he killed his wife in their Irvine home was subsequently arrested, police announced on Wednesday, after officers responded to the residence to confirm the crime.
Yunlong Bai, 42, was arrested on suspicion of murder Tuesday, after officers found his wife dead on the kitchen floor of their home on Red Apple, the Irvine Police Department said in a news release, according to Fox11 Los Angeles.
Officers arrived at the couple’s home, located in the neighborhood east of Royal Oak and Eagle Creek, at about 1 p.m.

Police in Irvine, California, have arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with the murder of his wife, they said May 5.
The victim, 33-year-old Chao Chen, was discovered May 4 about 1 p.m. on the kitchen floor of her Red Apple home.
Police said they learned of the killing after a probationer called his parole officer to confess to the crime. The officer relayed the information to police, who arrested 42-year-old Yulong Bai at the scene.
The victim had obvious signs of trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, said Irvine police spokesperson Sgt Katie Davies.

IRVINE (CNS) - A 42-year-old Irvine man was behind bars today on suspicion of killing his wife, who he was convicted of beating last year, police said.
Yunlong Bai called his probation officer at about 1 p.m. Tuesday to report that he killed his 33-year-old wife, Chao Chen, according to Sgt. Karie Davies of the Irvine Police Department. The suspect waited for police at his residence on Red Apple Court in Irvine, Davies said.
The victim ``had signs of trauma, Davies said, declining to be more specific. An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for next week, she said.

New autonomous robotic technology developed by Monash University researchers has the potential to become the ‘apple of my eye’ for Australia’s food industry as it deals with labour shortages and an increased demand for fresh produce.
A research team, led by Dr Chao Chen in Monash University’s Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, has developed an autonomous harvesting robot capable of identifying, picking and depositing apples in as little as seven seconds at full capacity.
Following extensive trials in February and March at Fankhauser Apples in Drouin, Victoria, the robot was able to harvest more than 85 per cent of all reachable apples in the canopy as identified by its vision system.
