Women s legend predicts Roosters to defeat Broncos for first NRLW title

Women’s legend predicts Roosters to defeat Broncos for first NRLW title Written by Tony Salerno on 18 July 2021 Women’s rugby league legend Tarsha Gale believes this is the year the Brisbane Broncos will be knocked off their NRLW perch. The Broncos have won the first three NRLW premierships and lost only one game since the competition’s inception. Gale believes the Sydney Roosters signing Jess Sergis will be the key to the Bondi club toppling Brisbane in the expanded competition. “I think the Roosters will knock off the Broncos and Jess Sergis will have a lot to do with that decision,” Gale said.

NRLW 2021: The Broader Game, Ali Brigginshaw, Queensland Maroons, NSW Sky Blues, captain fires first barb ahead of women s State of Origin

Ali Brigginshaw has fired a barb at NSW leading into the Women s State of Origin on June 25 with the Dally M Medallist suggesting Queensland has the stronger club competition. Brigginshaw s Valleys Diehards fell short of claiming the BHP Premiership over Burleigh last weekend with Maroons teammate Tamika Upton scoring the match-winner with four minutes remaining. However, it was Brigginshaw s words post-match which drew the attention of those south of the border, when talking to the crowd at the presentation. The 31-year-old declared the eight-team, seven-round competition in Queensland offered more to players than the Harvey Norman NSW Premiership. All NSW players in the Origin side except Millie Boyle, who is based in Queensland, play their club footy in the NSW state competition.

NRLW 2021: Increase in games remains an option in women s game ahead of state competitions kicking off

NRL CEO Andrew Abdo says increasing the number of games in the Telstra Women s Premiership remained a priority but a final decision won t be made until later in the year.   With many past and present players, fans and commentators saying more regular-season games was a must for 2021, Abdo said it was equally important to maintain the quality. A full schedule for the women s calendar is yet to confirmed by the NRL as officials in the women s elite competitions draw up options around the NRLW s next steps before seeking approval from the ARL Commission. Should the competition be expanded and the 2021 World Cup goes ahead, elite players will be in for arguably their biggest year on record with close to 30 games on offer across all levels.
