Saand Ki Aankh Co StarsTaapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar expressed their condolences over the death of Chandro Tomar, popularly known as Shooter Dadi who died due to COVID-19 complications.
Prakashi Tomar and Chandro Tomar were played by Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar in the biopic Saand Ki Aankh.
Owing to COVID-19 complications, Chandro Tomar, one of the oldest sharpshooters made a name for herself by winning several shooting competitions around the world. After becoming senior citizens, Chandro and her sister-in-law Prakashi Tomar were given the opportunity to hold the gun for the first time. They defied sexism and were among the country s most famous athletes.

Shooter Chandro Tomar, also known as shooter Dadi, passed away due to COVID-19 related complications on 30th April. Her, along with another octogenarian shooter Prakashi Tomar s, story was told on screen in the 2019 film Saand Ki Aankh. Bhumi Pednekar, who portrayed her onscreen, expressed her grief after getting to know about her demise; she said that it s completely devastating news. Both Chandro and Prakashi Tomar were named as one of the oldest female sharpshooters in the world, having started their sharpshooting career in their 60s. Taapsee Pannu had portrayed the role of Prakashi in the film. It went on to become a critical and commercial success.

MEERUT: Just in March this year, Chandro Tomar, 89, had thrown a New York Times reporter off balance when she said the secret of her good health was all the household chores she did every day, the wheat she ground by hand, the cows she milked, the grass she cut. One of the oldest professional female shooters in the world and winner of numerous national competitions, Tomar, more popular in life and lore as Shooter Dadi, broke targets, ceiling and stereotypes with equal ease.
She died on Friday, battling Covid complication.
