The Washington Post, which has often criticized India’s policies and decisions, allegedly posted an article praising the success of ISRO’s most recent Chandrayaan-3 mission.
“Hoping for a successful awakening for another set of assignments! Else, it will forever stay there as India's lunar ambassador,” ISRO said, announcing that its moon rover was set into Sleep mode.
Last week, PM Modi had announced that the Chandrayaan-3 lander’s touchdown point on the lunar surface would be named ‘Shiv Shakti’. The PM also said the crash site of the failed Chandrayaan -2 mission in 2019 would be called the Tiranga point.
To prepare Vikram for the Moon’s landing, scientists had to simulate an environment similar to the Moon. Tamil Nadu district Namakkal, situated 400 km away from Chennai, has soil that is similar to that of the lunar soil. ISRO scientists often get samples of soil from this area to create a bed similar to that of the Moon. Hence, soil from Namakkal played an important role in ensuring Chandrayaan-3’s soft landing on the Moon
On why Chdnarayaan-3 s Moon mission will come to and soon, it is due to the lunar night, a period when the surface of the moon is not exposed to the sun and the Pragyan rover will not be able to carry out researches.
