The municipal court in Chandler, Ariz., is expanding its virtual service to better protect survivors of domestic violence through the justice system. The court has teamed up with a local shelter on the project.
CHANDLER, Ariz. – Chandler Municipal Court has partnered with My Sisters’ Place to enable victims in the domestic violence shelter to file protective orders and be seen by a judge without appearing at the court in person.
This program, which started in February, uses remote technology to maintain a continued element of safety for the victim without the need to leave the shelter and come to the court. Chandler Municipal Court typically processes about 70 orders of protection monthly.
