After the shocking setback in what was billed as the first major contest between the BJP and the INDIA alliance, the AAP's candidate for the Chandigarh mayoral elections broke down and began weeping in front of the cameras.
On Thursday, ahead of the elections, the councillors were informed that due to ill health of one of the presiding officers, they should not reach the venue until further orders. The polls were then postponed until February 6.
The Chandigarh mayoral election, scheduled to be held today was postponed reportedly owing to the ill-health of the presiding officer. Aam Aadmi Party and Congress councillors protested terming the postponement a ploy by BJP.
Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher defended her remarks that led to a row with AAP councillors on Tuesday, saying that they indulged in ‘unacceptable behaviour’ to ‘deviate from the actual issue’.
