Letters to The EDITOR Takeaways from election results The biggest takeaway from the results of the Assam Assembly elections is that people are not ready to accept the regionalism brand of politics which was aggressively pushed by the two newly floated political parties – AJP and Raijor Dol. The voters cannot be blamed for this scepticism of the regional brand of politics given the dismal past performance of the mascot of regional politics, the AGP, which is now a divided house. The voters saw in the leaders of the two hurriedly-formed parties the greed for power as the prime motive for forming the parties as both parties failed to project before the electorate a united front and a credible agenda not confined to just a few emotive issues.

Letters to The Editor Forgetting own culture Through your esteemed daily, I would like to bring the attention of the indigenous people of Assam that in the days of technology, we have forgotten our own culture. It is bitter but true that most of us and also our upcoming generations are attracted towards different cultures rather than our own. It is my humble request to the parents to make their children love their own culture. Niharika Krishnatri, with examinees The Prime Minster talks to HSLC and HS examinees and advices them before their examinations every year. It is a welcome and laudable move. I heard the programme this time and it is really nice and audible. The Prime Minister advised the examinees not to care / fear/ and not to be nervous. He advised them to take it easy. It s not career growth. It s way of life.
