City extends pay for injured firefighter Matt Dawson
The Lubbock City Council voted earlier this month to extend firefighter Matt Dawson’s leave with full pay for one additional year.
Dawson was critically injured in January while responding to a car accident in inclement weather. The crash killed two other first responders - Lubbock Fire Rescue Lt. Eric Hill and Lubbock police officer Nicholas Reyna - who were also working the scene of the initial wreck.
The men were struck by a vehicle while at the scene of a car accident in icy conditions the morning of Jan. 11 on Interstate 27 in North Lubbock.
