Multiplex has landed the contract to turn the Grade II-listed former US Embassy in central London’s Mayfair into a luxury retail destination and hotel.
Developer Qatari Diar announced the appointment today when it renamed the building at 30 Grosvenor Square as The Chancery Rosewood.
The project will see the Australian-multinational contractor transform the building so that it can boast retail spaces as well as a new public realm to support enhancements on the square, as well as the 139-room hotel, which will include a grand ballroom with space for 750 guests.
Qatari Diar chief executive Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah said: “The announcement of The Chancery Rosewood name and the award of the contractor appointment to Multiplex marks a significant milestone in the transformation of Grosvenor Square, and is a project that we are extremely proud to be delivering as part of our ongoing investment into UK real estate.
