Share this New York City-based fast-food shop Grilled! recently opened in the city’s Bushwick neighborhood, quite possibly becoming the world’s first dentist-owned vegan burger and sandwich shop. Owned by entrepreneur and vegan activist Andrew DellaPietra, DDS, Grilled!’s menu features low-cost, plant-based comfort foods such as classic and double burgers made with Beyond Meat patties, chili-cheese hot dogs made with Lightlife SmartDogs, grilled chicken sandwiches and tenders made with Gardein chicken, and BOCA chicken nuggets.  The menu is helmed by Guillermo “Memo” Jaramillo, a chef who previously worked at Champs Diner another vegan Brooklyn establishment and was laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. (Breeze photo by Lauren Clem) BURRILLVILLE – One year into the pandemic, Paula Dumas, owner of Uncle Ronnie’s Red Tavern in Burrillville with her husband, Ron, said they’ve faced everything. Since last March, they’ve switched to takeout, limited their seating, and navigated the complicated policies around reopening. But the latest challenge, she said, isn’t related to the number of customers or government restrictions. Instead, she said, it’s staff that she’s struggling to bring in the door.
