Grewal and Shepherd Accept Invitations to Augusta National Women s Amateur – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

Clemson, SC Clemson golfers Savannah Grewal and Ivy Shepherd have accepted invitations to play in the 2022 Augusta National Women’s Amateur.  The event is regarded as one of the top women’s amateur events in the world, as 39 of the top 40players in the Feb. 2 Women’s World Amateur Rankings have accepted invitations. Clemson is tied for third for the most representatives in the tournament.  Stanford has five players in the field, while Wake Forest has three.  Clemson, Southern California, Duke, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, San Jose State and Auburn all have two apiece. Grewal is in her third year at Clemson.  The native of  Ontario, Canada is a veteran of 15 tournaments for the Tigers over the last three years.  This past fall she had a 73.22 stroke average, third on the Clemson team.   Last year she finished third at the Clemson Invitational with a five-under-par 211 score.  Her performance in that tournament included the first hole-in-one in Clemson history. ALPENA For most high schoolers, spring break is all about taking time to get away from school and getting a chance to relax. For Kennedy Ellis, spring break turned into a very busy, but very enjoyable week. Ellis, an Alpena High School senior, was part of the volunteer grounds crew for part of the 2021 Augusta National Women’s Amateur, which was held from March 31 to April 3.

Ellie Slama Continues Outstanding Oregon State Career

Apr 3, 2021 CORVALLIS, Ore. – Ellie Slama has solidified her career as one of the greatest golfers in Oregon State history.   The senior from Salem, Ore., recently competed at the Augusta National Women s Amateur and concluded the event with a 9-over 74-79 153 at the Champions Retreat Golf Club.     It s the third-straight year she was selected to play at the Augusta National Women s Amateur. The 2020 event was cancelled due to the effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic.   Qualifying for the ANWA is an elite accomplishment for amateur golfers, Oregon State head coach Dawn Shockley said. The fact that Ellie has qualified both years of the ANWA is extraordinary.
