Nigerian showdown between Enyimba and Rivers looms in CAF Cup Johannesburg (AFP) – The CAF Confederation Cup playoffs draw made in Cairo Friday produced the appealing prospect of an all-Nigerian showdown between Enyimba and Rivers United.
Enyimba have secured a place and Rivers are set to join them once an outstanding fixture against Bloemfontein Celtic of South Africa is staged.
Celtic are trailing 2-0 from the first leg, but did not travel to Nigeria this week because they would not have had time to quarantine for seven days because of the coronavirus before the return match.
The playoffs pit Confederation Cup last 32 winners against Champions League last 32 losers like Enyimba, who were eliminated from the elite competition by Al Merrikh of Sudan.
Enyimba prepare for CAF Champions

Enyimba of Nigeria will try today to repair the damage inflicted by Seifeldin Malik, whose hat-trick propelled Al Merrikh of Sudan to a 3-0 CAF Champions League last 32 first leg victory.
It is the second time the club from southeastern city Aba have faced such a deficit in the elite African competition, and are hoping for a more successful outcome.
Enyimba suffered a 4-1 loss away to ASEC Mimosas of the Ivory Coast in a 2002 qualifier and a 3-1 home victory was insufficient to avoid elimination.
Here, AFP Sport puts the spotlight on five intriguing return matches as clubs seek overall victories, group places, and a minimum payout of $550,000 (450,000 euros).
