Why so bubbly? Learn about how champagne is made

My brother has always been a car guy. When he was little, we must have watched “The Love Bug,” and its many sequels, twice a week. In the original movie, Peter Thorndyke preemptively pops open some bubbly to celebrate the victory he feels sure is in the bag, saying to his assistant, “Havershaw, if you tell me that the bubbles tickle your nose, I shall probably kill you!” As a child, I found this both hysterically funny but perplexing because, frankly, the bubbles always sounded like the best part. Now that I’m an adult, I can confirm that the bubbles in champagne are utterly delightful and do, in fact, tickle your nose.
