The war of words between the Deputy Commissioners of Mysuru and Chamarajanagar over the death of COVID-19 patients in Chamarajanagar district hospital due to non-availability of oxygen continued on Wednesday with the Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru Rohini Sindhuri clarifying that she neither rationed nor controlled oxygen supplies to Chamarajanagar.
“I categorically state that as Deputy Commissioner Mysuru, I did not ration or control oxygen supplies to Chamarajanagar district or any other district”, Ms Sindhuri said in a statement on Wednesday.

Mysuru, May 5 : After receiving flak from her counterpart as well as a number of elected representatives over the Chamarajnagar tragedy, Mysuru deputy commissioner Rohini Sindhuri on Wednesday denied all allegations made by Chamarajanagar Deputy Commissioner, M. R. Ravi Kumar, over supply of oxygen.
Reacting for the first time after the controversy erupted two days ago, Sindhuri told reporters that each district is responsible for the happenings within its jurisdiction. How can I be responsible for supply of oxygen to Chamarajangar? I was intimated about the shortage only at midnight and immediately I helped them by sending 40 cylinders from our district s quota, she said.

The CM told the media on Tuesday after an emergency Cabinet meeting to take stock of the
Covid situation that to tide over the shortage of oxygen, one of the proposals was to procure all the oxygen manufactured in the State to meet the growing demands of the hospitals. “I have already discussed the issue and am hoping for a favourable reply soon,” Yediyurappa said. The State Cabinet has also approved a decision to procure 5 lakh Remdesivir doses and 1 lakh oxygen concentrators from abroad. The State is also mulling over a plan to supply kits to every home isolated patient.
