Prolific hangman s little-known life growing up on Hessle Road Thomas Pierrepoint hanged 300 people and spent his formative years in Hull He carried out some 300 executions including the only hanging of a woman at Hull Prison. Thomas Pierrepoint was part of the infamous Pierrepoint dynasty with several members employed as hangmen and executioners. But what is not so well known is that Thomas spent much of his formative years growing up in what is now Hawthorn Avenue, off Hessle Road, as local historian Mike Covell discovered. Read more: Henry Pierrepoint was employed as an executioner from 1901, carrying out his first execution on November 19th alongside James Billington while Albert Pierrepoint, who was Henry’s uncle, was employed as an executioner from 1931 until 1956.

IN COURT: Who s been sentenced from Northampton, Daventry, Brackley and Earls Barton

The following cases were heard on February 15 David Gregory, aged 41, of Avenue Bernard, Brackley, drink-driving, no licence, no insurance; disqualified 18 months, fined £80, surcharge to fund victim services £34, costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service. Liam Patrick Kieran Blanchfield, aged 20, of Barrack Road, Northampton, breached court order; fined £90. Northampton Magistrates Court Craig Anthony Church, aged 35, Obelisk Rise, Northampton, assault; community order to carry out unpaid work, pay compensation of £100, surcharge £90, costs £620, Anthony James Revell, aged 34, of Packwood Crescent, Earls Barton, driving while disqualified, taking vehicle without consent, no insurance; disqualified 12 months, carry out unpaid work. Colin Bees, aged 34, of Colwyn Road, Northampton, drug-driving, failed to stop after an accident; disqualified 18 months, carry out unpaid work, surcharge £95, costs £85.
