Security has been tightened in Delhi-NCR in view of Chakka Jaam call by farmers. As per officials, around 50,000 personnel of Delhi Police, Paramilitary & Reserve Forces has been deployed in Delhi-NCR. Moreover, several metro stations entry and exit points have been closed as a precautionary measure.
The chakka jam is scheduled to be held between 12 noon and 3 PM on Saturday. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha, the united front of farmers protesting against new farm laws, has urged protesters to hold chakka jam peacefully and has invited all countrymen to join farmers in ending it at 3 PM by continuously honking their vehicles for one minute. The Congress has lent its support to the chakka jam.

The government and its police have now turned the three farmers’ protest sites at Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur into open jails. The ‘annadatas’ of our country are being treated as foreign invaders. No other central government in independent India has ever done this near the national capital itself.
But it is a glorious tribute to this unprecedented farmers’ struggle that it has not only withstood this multi-fanged state repression, but has in fact increased its defiant resistance massively over the last one week.

JNU student Natasha Narwal, arrested under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, alleged before a court on Thursday that the charge sheet filed by the police in a north east Delhi riots case revolved around the deaths of only three persons, including Head constable Ratan Lal and and Intelligence Bureau official Ankit Sharma, and ignored the deaths of the other local persons.
Her counsel Adit Pujari alleged before Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat that 53 people died in the riots but the charge sheet revolved around the deaths of only three persons.
