Solano health officer tests waters for tougher self-imposed gathering restrictions
FAIRFIELD Dr. Bela Matyas told Solano County supervisors this week that he would – with their approval – issue a prohibition on private gatherings modeled after the state’s state-at-home order.
The local order would come ahead of what appears to be an inevitable order from the state anyway, but Matyas was interested in what the board might have to say.

“The reason for that is I can justify that (order),” Matyas said in a phone interview Wednesday, the day after the board meeting.
“(Private gatherings) is the venue where the disease is transmitting . . . and (issuing the order) is not inconsistent with the harm reduction message we have been sending for months.”
