Bui Van Cuong re-elected as General Secretary of 15th National Assembly

The 15th National Assembly elected the General Secretary, Chairpersons of the NA Council for Ethnic and NA committees and the State Auditor General in the morning of July 21, as part of the on-going first session of the 15th legislature.
The NA adopted a resolution on the election of Bui Van Cuong, a member of the 13th Party Central Committee and General Secretary of the 14th NA, as the General Secretary of the National Assembly (NA) in the 15th tenure.
Ho Chi Minh City puts forth key solutions for knowledge-based economy
In his presentation at the working session of the 13th National Party Congress on January 27, Nguyen Thanh Phong, Party Central Committee member, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People’s Committee, focused on analyzing issues relating to the development of knowledge-based economy which were being carried out in the city.

According to Chairman Phong, summarizing the experiences from successful reality of some countries in the region and around the world, Ho Chi Minh City always determines the importance of developing a knowledge-based economy in its development orientation and strategy.

He made the statement during his reception for Osamu Ikezoe, General Director of Uniqlo, the Japanese group in Vietnam.
According to Chairman Phong, as Ho Chi Minh City is oriented to be built into a shopping center of Southeast Asia in the coming years, the presence of Uniqlo has helped city people to have more choices in garment products.
“Every year, the city regularly organises dialogues with Japanese businesses, as well as regularly works with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to listen to Japanese businesses’ difficulties and solve their problems, with the desire to provide them the most favorable environment.
