The vote to reject the plan, which had been close to two years in the making, followed a period this summer in which the county solicited input from residents and received hundreds of responses.
The Goochland Board of Supervisors on Wednesday nixed the controversial Centerville Small Area Plan, and the board chairman said the county was unlikely to revisit the subject this year.
The legislation was prompted by a request from Goochland County, where officials want to give voters a say in where the recreational marijuana industry operates.
