VMware Adds AI Technologist, Venture Capitalist To Its Board

With VMware’s fearless CEO Pat Gelsinger leaving for Intel and Dell Technologies eyeing a spin-off of its majority stake in VMware later this year, the virtualization superstar is adding seasoned technology entrepreneur and venture capitalist Ken Denman to its board of directors.
Denman is a venture partner at Sway Ventures but was previously co-founder and CEO of Emotient, an artificial intelligence startup that analyzes facial expressions which was acquired by Apple in 2016. He was also the CEO of software communications specialist Openwaves Systems, as well as cloud-based service manager and Wi-Fi company iPass for which he led a successful IPO in 2003.

Dell Technologies stock has been trading at all-time highs this month at over $76 per share as its PC business skyrockets with solid sales growth and innovation slated for 2021 despite the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The $92 billion Round Rock, Texas-based infrastructure giant’s DELL stock is currently trading at $76.61 per share, which is up a whopping 53 percent compared to Dell’s share price of $49.83 one year ago today. Dell Technologies has several positive tailwinds ahead of it in 2021 including the strongest PC market in a decade, new as-a-service offerings and the likely spin-off of VMware.
In a year when much of the news out of Wilson County Schools has revolved around the coronavirus pandemic, it might be easy to overlook the achievements of the district, schools and students.
Such successes are celebrated monthly at school board meetings, and the December event was no different. Board members and the public learned that Wilson County Schools students scored among the tops in the state on the ACT, W.A. Wright Elementary School earned a national honor, and students were recognized for excelling.
For the 2019-20 school year, WCS seniors scored an overall average composite of 21.5 on the ACT, well above the stateâs 19.9 average and 0.6 points above the previous yearâs WCS average. That ranks the district 12th our of 127 in the state. Of the districts where more than 800 students took the test, WCS ranks second.
