New dams to help generate cheap electricity: Elahi WAPDA chairman briefs acting governor on different power projects LAHORE: Water & Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Lt-Gen (retd) Muzzammil Hussain called on Acting Governor Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and briefed him on different power projects. The WAPDA chairman said work on major hydropower projects was in full swing. The construction of Mohmand, Dasu and Diamer Bhasha dams will save water and also generate thousands of megawatts of cheap electricity. He said Mohmand and Dasu would be completed by 2025 while Diamer Bhasha Dam by 2028. Appreciating the perfor- mance of WAPDA, Chaudhry Parvaiz Elahi voiced hope that the construction of new dams would be completed within the stipulated time which would provide affordable electricity and abundant water to the people for irrigation.

Pick up pace of work on CPEC, ministries told

A cabinet body overseeing the implementation of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) on Tuesday directed the ministries to remove irritants for fast-paced execution of the projects and gave them a stern warning that if the task was not completed within a week they would face the music.
