KINGSTON, N.Y. â City Police Department reforms considered by the Re-envision Public Safety Task Force are being developed largely without references to specific concerns or incidents related to law enforcement work within the city itself.
Eleven reports were provided during a video conference public session Wednesday, with task force Chairman Lester Strong acknowledging that the academic-styled reports did not contain detailed city-based statistics to support the recommendations being made.
âItâs exactly why weâre doing this work tonight,â he said. âThis town hall (meeting) tonight is a work in progress. We should have said that at the very outset, that this is where we are in the work and (community) feedback tonight is informing that work.â
