Coronavirus vaccine: How Australia will roll out its biggest national health operation

Save Share When Scott Morrison rolls up his sleeve next week to be among the first Australians to receive the coronavirus vaccine, it will be the end point in a sub-zero logistical exercise that has crossed the globe, been wrapped up in tight security and embraced revolutionary medical science. One plan being kicked around is for Morrison to be immunised with US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer’s vaccine at Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, delivering a symbolic shot in the arm for public confidence that the vaccines - developed at breakneck speed - are safe. With much fanfare, the first batch 142,000 Pfizer doses – enough for 71,000 people – touched down at Sydney Airport on Monday, allowing officials to breathe a sigh of relief after European threats to block exports.
