Wrestling: Should Nebraska Hit Up Transfer Portal?

Wrestling: Should Nebraska Hit Up Transfer Portal? With most Seniors expected back and a stacked cupboard of underclassmen, Nebraska can be picky in transfer portal; Former 3x Nebraska state champ Burks leaving Oklahoma State Share this story Jon Johnston / Corn Nation The NCAA wrestling transfer portal has been heating up lately and I started wondering if Nebraska is/will be going after some guys to round out their roster for 2021-22. Nebraska will occasionally hit the transfer market, highlighted by a pair of transfers in the starting lineup in Liam Cronin (Indiana transfer in 2020) and Christian Lance (Fort Hays State transfer in 2018). Cronin is a 125-pounder and Lance is a heavyweight. Also at heavyweight, Nebraska has former Wyoming transfer Cale Davidson and Landon Brown, a transfer from the junior college ranks in 2020.

Wrestling: Some Husker Seniors Make Decisions on Returning

Wrestling: Some Husker Seniors Make Decisions on Returning Nebraska’s lower weights get a boost with the return of Liam Cronin and Chad Red, while Caleb Licking will not return Share this story Jon Johnston / Corn Nation For Nebraska, much rides on the decision of its six seniors. No official word has been put out, but FloWrestling is reporting that three of these Huskers have made their decisions. “If a decision is listed beside a wrestler’s name, the wrestler or school has either announced it or I have confirmed the decision with the school or wrestler.” - FloWrestling Both Liam Cronin and Chad Red Jr. are set to return for another senior year after this past year didn’t exhaust a year of eligibility. Cronin finished the year ranked No. 19 at 125 pounds, while Red sits at No. 7 at 141 pounds.

Wrestling: Will the Seniors Return for the Huskers?

Wrestling: Will the Seniors Return for the Huskers? All six of Nebraska’s seniors were starters, will any of them return for another year of eligibility? Share this story Jon Johnston / CORN NATION This past season, the Huskers had six seniors in their starting lineup. And with this year not counting against eligibility, these seniors can choose to come back for another year. Their scholarships wouldn’t count against the 9.9 scholarships the team is allowed, but the university is responsible for footing the bill. That means that right now we have no idea who will be taking the mat for Nebraska next season. Nothing has come out from any of Nebraska’s senior starters as of yet whether they plan on coming back.
