MORGAN, Utah (KUTV) â
The Morgan County School District is dropping the mask mandate, even though state health officials say the K-12 mask requirement remains in place.
Gwen Romero is an English teacher at Morgan High School who speaks for the district. She said the decision was based on low case counts, parent feedback and the board’s interpretation of state law.
“It’s in support of parents being able to have the right to choose what they feel is appropriate for their kids’ health and again in response to what the data shows about where we are as a county,” Romero said.
One physical education class after another uses the gym.
But the floor needs regular maintenance the school district just hasnât been able to afford.
So, several groups stepped in to help recently.
Thanks to their efforts, they raised $20,000 needed for the three-week project that should begin later this month and wrap up in June. The district contracted Arizona Gym Floors to do the project.
Payson Golf Club held a golf tournament to raise money for the project, and Backwoods held a fundraiser. Keith Family Flooring, RVN3, the Mogollon Sporting Association and the MHA Foundation also donated to the project.
