GRAND CHUTE, WI â The Wisconsin Timber Rattler and Peoria Chiefs played for almost four hours on Wednesday night at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. There were 24 hits, 16 walks, seven errors, and a lot of opportunities for both teams. In the end, the Chiefs built a big enough lead and held on for a 12-11 victory over the Rattlers in game two of the six-game series.
Garrett Mitchell put the Timber Rattlers (13-13) up 3-0 as the third batter in the bottom of the first inning. David Hamilton started the inning with a single to move his hitting streak to eight games. Korry Howell drew a walk. Then, Mitchell, the #1 pick of the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2020 draft, drove a 1-0 pitch over the wall in center for his first professional home run.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA â The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers pitchers had kept the Cedar Rapids Kernels hitters in check during Wisconsinâs four-game winning streak during the six-game series. The Kernels had scored just four runs on eight hits during the Wisconsin wins in the series. That changed on Sunday afternoon at Perfect Game Field. Wisconsin outhit Cedar Rapids 7-6, but two of the Kernels hits were grand slam home runs and those eight runs on two swings of the bat were the margin of victory in the 10-2 win over the Timber Rattlers.
The Kernels (10-14) got on the scoreboard first. Wisconsin starting pitcher Justin Jarvis had two outs with a runner at first in the bottom of the third inning. He gave up a hit to Seth Gray and walked Gabe Snyder on four pitches to bring Wander Javier to the plate with the bases loaded.
Freisis Adames and Taylor Floyd combined to hold the Cedar Rapids Kernels to no hits over the seven-inning first game of Saturday’s doubleheader at Perfect Game Field. Adames went five innings and Floyd tossed the last two innings to close out the 9-1 victory.
