According to a news release, Chad Hughes, promotions and operations manager for the fair, has resigned with his final day slated for May 30 of this year.
Hughes was hired by the Allen County Agricultural Society at the October 21, 2020, meeting. He replaced Bob Fricke whose contract was not renewed.

LIMA The 4-Wheel Jamboree, which brought 30,000-plus people and $6.5 million in tourism to Lima each year, won’t be returning to the Allen County Fairgrounds.
Organizers of the annual monster truck show, which brought Bigfoot and Grave Digger to Lima, asked to be let out of their contract, said Chad Hughes, promotions and operations manager for the Allen County Fairgrounds.
“We are disappointed they have decided not to come back to the area,” Hughes said. “We are looking for other options to bring events like that event to the fairgrounds.”

A transplant from Australia, Chad Hughes is the new executive director for the Elk River Alliance and is keen to apply his diverse background as an ecologist and mining consultant to working collaboratively across sectors in the Elk Valley to preserve the watershed.
“The Elk River Alliance is not against industry,” he said. “Without resource extraction the Elk Valley and the economy would be very different, but at the same time we need to be aware that we do live in an environment that needs to be taken care of.”
Originally from Perth, Australia, Chad earned his Bachelor in Environmental Sciences from the University in Western Australia, majoring in land and water management and botany, then proceeded to work for a number of years as an environmental scientist and botanist throughout the Australian outback.
Letter: ‘Bright Nights’ brings display worth seeing
My family took a drive through “Bright Nights” at the Allen County Fairgrounds, and it was wonderful.
In years past, we have had to travel to other cities to see Christmas displays like this. For the first time, Lima has a beautiful winter wonderland in our own backyard, thanks to the new fair manager, Chad Hughes, and Mercy Health.
If you haven’t taken your family yet, do so now. I hope to see it attract people from miles away now and in the coming years.
