Taco Hut, located on 30th Street, has served Mexican food in Hutchinson for 50 years. That, for a small business, is an achievement. The adobe “hut”, illustrates the food within. It is now squished between its newer neighbors; a mini-strip mall on the west and a brick building that has changed hands many times on the east. Although it is front and center to traffic it is only noticed when someone points it out.
Mentioning Taco Hut always brings correction and confusion. “You mean Taco Bell?” No “You mean the one on 4th.” No. “Taco Tico isn’t here in Hutchinson.” No.
