The men’s 100m freestyle event is comparable to the men’s 100m dash since the competition is so fierce and highly influenced by athletes’ physical advantages. Therefore, it has been regarded as a ‘high wall’ that Asian players cannot overcome.
The competition becomes even fiercer in the Olympics, where the world’s best athletes representing their country compete. The Tokyo capital area and the Tohoku region, where the Tokyo Olympic Games are held, has come under the influence of Typhoon No. 8 starting Tuesday, forcing some Olympic events to be rescheduled.
As of 6 a.m. on Tuesday, the typhoon was located around 230 kilometers southeast of Choshi in Chiba Prefecture near Tokyo and it was moving towards west-southwest at slow speed, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

South Korea dominated men’s team archery finals, winning second consecutive gold in archery men’s team event.
The South Korean team of Oh Jin-hyek, Kim Woo-jin, and Kim Je-deok beat Chinese Taipei in the final by the set score of 6-0 at Yumenoshima Park Archery Field in Tokyo on Monday.
