SAN DIEGO
San Diego police released the names of two officers who shot and killed a man last week in Talmadge following a pursuit involving a carload of men believed to be involved in two shootings earlier the same day.
Police said the man who was killed in the July 23 shooting, identified this week as 22-year-old Jesus Salvador Valeta, ran from the car while armed with a gun.
Officers Gregory Bergman and Anthony Guerra shot at Valeta behind a fast food restaurant on El Cajon Boulevard near 54th Street, homicide Lt. Matt Dobbs said.
Valeta was struck at least once and died at a hospital.
