Mazda has begun accepting pre-orders for the MX-30 Electric in Australia, with an initial run of 100 units set to be delivered to customers from August this year. Only one trim level – the E35 Astina – will be offered to customers there, which is currently priced from AUD65,490 (RM208,728) before on-the-road costs.
It should be noted again that this is the fully electric version of the MX-30, which is different from the mild hybrid model that is already on sale in the country, priced from AUD33,990 (RM108,449). The latter features the brand’s e-SkyActiv G powertrain, which consists of a 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol engine, 24-volt M Hybrid system and a six-speed automatic transmission, providing 155 PS (153 hp) and 200 Nm of torque.

The Japanese company’s small zero-emission crossover is offered in a single trim level named Astina, which starts at AU$65,490 (equaling to US$50,554) and offers a generous range of equipment.
Things such as the 18-inch alloy wheels, 360-degree camera system, auto-dimming mirrors, glass sunroof, dusk-sensing LED headlamps, and keyless entry and go are standard. It also features single-zone climate control, a 7-inch TFT multi-info display, heated front seats and steering wheel, dual-tone cloth and leather upholstery, power adjustable driver’s seat with memory function, an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, sat-nav and others.

Maximum driving range is rated at just
200km on the typically conservative WLTP cycle used in Europe.
For reference, the Hyundai Kona Electric – which is roughly the same size as the Mazda, and priced from $62,000 before on-road costs – offers 484km from its standard-in-Australia 64kWh battery, or a more comparable 289km from a 39kWh pack offered as standard in Europe.
The cheaper, $43,990 drive-away MG ZS EV delivers 263km from a larger 44.5kWh pack.
