KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 18): The growing emphasis by investors on environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors has been a key driver for corporations to evaluate and adopt practices that are aligned with global sustainability standards, according to a study by the Centre for Sustainable Corporations (CSC).
The CSC is an initiative of Capital Markets Malaysia (CMM), which was set up by the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) in 2014 to spearhead the local and international positioning and profiling of the Malaysian capital market.
In a statement today, CMM said the study showed that most companies still don’t embrace sustainability because their customers don’t demand it or are not willing to pay a premium for eco-friendly products.
