New vision for Libyan private higher education unveiled
To control the rapid increase in unaccredited, sub-standard private universities that produce unemployable graduates, Libya’s Students Organisation of Private Higher Education has unveiled a new vision for the private higher education sector in the country. This includes the creation of a National Council for Private Higher Education.
The new vision, titled ‘Private Higher Education in Libya 2021’, was presented at a private higher education conference on 23 June, 2021.
Engineer Waleed Gashout, author of the vision and the president of the Students Organisation of Private Higher Education, told
University World News that the national council’s objective is to provide a framework for the promotion and regulation of a quality higher education system that is relevant and market-driven.
