Sanjeev K Sharma JAMMU, Mar 14: Roars, trumpets and all wild voices will fill airs of Jammu as the much awaited Zoo in city outskirts will be thrown open to public after some months as work on it is in full swing at present. “The approved phase one of Jambu Zoo at Nagrota will be completed by November this year after which the Zoo will be thrown open to the public,” Chief Wildlife Warden J&K, Suresh Kumar Gupta told Excelsior. “Success of the first phase will usher the second phase and that will be the final phase of the project,” Gupta said.

Pilikula Biological Park MANGALURU: The animal exchange programme of the Pilikula Biological Park, that came to a halt due to the Covid-19 pandemic, is expected to resume soon. The 150 acre Pilikula Biological Park is one of the major attractions of the Dr Shivarama Karantha Pilikula Nisargadhama. In accordance with prevailing laws, the Central Zoo Authority of India has recognized the park as a major zoo, and the animals are kept in spacious enclosures, which closely resemble their natural habitat. H J Bhandary, director, Pilikula Biological Park, said that most of the zoos in north India are opening up slowly, and once all the zoos open, they will restart the animal exchange programme. “We are hoping to relaunch this programme as soon as possible. We have animals for exchange, but the exchange programme will be taken up only after approval from the Central Zoo Authority. It will also depend on requests from other zoos.
