AYUTTHAYA: Nineteen more Covid-19 cases were reported in Ayutthaya province on Friday, including three children, bringing the total number in this central province to 268.
Health officials said most of the 19 new cases were infected by family members, and one caught the disease at the Central Shrimp Market, which has been closed after people working there were found to be infected.
Three of the new cases are children aged 1, 6, and 10 years.
The six-year-old boy, patient No.255, was infected by his father in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya district; the year-old girl, patient No.262, caught the disease from her mother in Maharat district; and the10-year-old girl, patient No 266, was infected by her aunt in Maharat district.

The government on Wednesday reported 250 new Covid-19 cases - 241 local infections, eight quarantined arrivals and one Myanmar cargo truck driver - raising the total to 6,690.
Dr Taweesilp Visanuyothin, spokesman of the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said nine were linked to Samut Sakhon province, showing a decline in new cases stemming from the province s the Central Shrimp Market.
Of these nine, four were in Samut Sakhon, two in Bangkok and one each in Ayutthaya, Ranong and Nonthaburi.

Covid-19 has tested Thailand s public health security since the start of the year. In the first wave of infections, local transmissions seemed to stop at around 3,000 cases. After the disease peaked, only a handful of infections were found in state quarantine, all of which were returnees from abroad.
