Junior miners get $100 million funding boost

Joint media release with Member for Flynn, Ken O’Dowd The Coalition Government will contribute a further $100 million to extend the Junior Minerals Exploration Incentive (JMEI) four more years. Extension of the JMEI program will help to ensure jobs for future generations of miners, which may not occur without additional and ongoing exploration activities. Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia Keith Pitt said the Junior Minerals Exploration Incentive allows eligible companies to access tax incentives to attract new investors. “The Coalition Government will continue to support our junior mining companies and encourage exploration and development of new resource deposits,” Minister Pitt said.

Two people injured in crash on CQ highway

Premium Content Two people sustained minor injuries from a single-vehicle crash near Longreach on Thursday morning. Paramedics were called about 7.40am to reports of a male and female in the vehicle when it crashed on the Landsborough Highway, about 20km from Longreach. The pair was taken to Longreach Hospital in a stable condition.
