Large crowds breaching covid rules slammed for acting in selfish manner

Crowds of youths descended on Hoglands Park in Southampton in breach of Covid-19 regulations. According to police, more than 100 people gathered there on Thursday night playing loud music, drinking and leaving litter. Officers broke up the crowds which they said was not helping the NHS. Commenting, Cllr John Noon said that when he walked through the parks the following morning they looked clean and that any litter must have been cleaned up very quickly by council cleaners. Representing the Bargate ward he added: I do feel people meeting in large groups in contravention of COVID regulations act in a selfish manner by putting themselves and others at risk.

More than 100 people descended on Hoglands Park on Thursday night. On arrival, police found groups playing loud music and drinking. Officers broke up the gathering which they warned was not helping the NHS. Police were called to Hoglands Park on Thursday night A post on the Southampton Cops Facebook page said: Southampton Central Neighbourhood Team responded to a COVID19 breach today in Hoglands Park. On arrival, the team were met with 100+ people gathered, playing loud music and drinking. Officers have dispersed the large group, but faces and names were captured. We look forward to knocking on your door tomorrow!

Romsey man slapped with fine for skateboarding with 20 others A ROMSEY man has been slapped with a £200 fine after he was caught skateboarding with 20 people in a Southampton carpark.  A man in his 20s was caught skateboarding in a city centre carpark last night by police, who have reported he was with 20 other people. Despite some of the group fleeing upon the police s arrival, a number of members of the group remained where they were.  While some of the group engaged with the officers, one man from Romsey did not. Officers asked for the man s details but he gave the officers a false name and address.
