Sisters Together was a night for Black women to celebrate, love and support one another. We re sisters in more than one way, Shirley Alexander, with the Central Louisiana Juneteenth Association, told those in attendance at Friday night s event held at the Broadway Resource Center. We re sisters in Christ if you know Him. We are sisters in color. And we re sisters in femininity.
The women s service is a new component of the local Juneteenth celebrations, said Carolyn Frazier, president of the Central Louisiana Juneteenth Association. She felt it was a way for older and younger people to reestablish a connection that has been lost.
