Procurement body deregisters 43 officers

The Malawi Institute of Procurement and Supply (Mips) has deregistered 43 of its members for not renewing their membership. The institute, established under an Act of Parliament, announced the decision on April 22 2024 through the members’ e-mail addresses as well as official Mips WhatsApp group. MEC Offices sealed in Blantyre over non payment of rentals

The MEC office premises are owned by Central Government Store. Central Government Stores officials confirmed of the development in an interview with the press, saying next destination is One Village One Product (Ovop), Public Events and Immigration. According to the officials, the three institutions owe them money amounting to K269 million. The rentals are from 2015 to 2018.
