For Stuff’s Charlie O’Mannin, a dedicated bibliophile, they’re something of an obsession, and he has visited most sales from Ashburton south to Invercargill, some of them multiple times. He talks about his passion for rifling through tables and boxes of books, and some of the treasures he’s unearthed. I have always been obsessed with books, from smuggling them into boring events as a child to amassing a hoard I can spend hours gloating over as an adult.
