The national medical council officially made its debut at a ceremony in Hanoi on January 15.
The national medical council officially made its debut at a ceremony in Hanoi on January 15, which has been regarded as a milestone of the domestic health care sector.
The council was formed in line with the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 956/QD-TTg, with the aim of assisting the Government leader in preparing necessary conditions for organising capacity assessment in medical profession.
The establishment of the council is in accordance with international commitments on medical capacity standards and matches Vietnam’s situation, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said, urging the council to soon put forth its operation regulations as well as mechanisms for the organisation of medical licensing examinations.

Dak Lak (VNA) – A cleft lip and palate surgery
programme kicked off in Dak Lak province on December 18, expected to benefit
children with the deformities in seven provinces in the central and Central
Highlands regions.
2020 is the sixth consecutive year the programme has been organised
by Operation Smile Vietnam and the Dak Lak provincial Fund for Children.
The prorgamme, targeting Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Dak Lak, Dak
Nong, Lam Dong, Khanh Hoa, and Phu Yen, is set to provide screening for 120 - 150

London (VNA) - A society of
Vietnamese intellectuals in the UK and Ireland (VIS-UK) was established during a virtual inaugural conference held on December 19.
In his opening speech, Vietnamese Ambassador to the country Tran Ngoc An said a large number of Vietnamese intellectuals are living in the UK, and many of them hope to contribute to the development of their homeland.
The forum, therefore, is expected to connect Vietnamese intellectuals, scientists and experts through practical activities, further contributing to the country’s development in science, technology and socio-economy, he added.
