MASSILLON – Round three of the Lincoln Way streetscape initiative is en route, but further down the road with a potential start date of summer 2022.
The effort has also been dubbed Phase III of the city’s Imagine Massillon improvement project. Estimated cost of the 2021 project is slightly more than $1.47 million, with the bulk of funds being sought via the Ohio Public Works Commission.
The first round of improvements was the downtown Lincoln Way streetscape project, which was finished in fall 2019. Renovations to Duncan Plaza this year were deemed the second phase.
City Council discussed a proposed ordinance Monday night that would permit the mayor s office to apply for public works funding to pay for the 2022 project. First-reading consideration by council for the legislation is slated next week.
