The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and the three regulatory agencies for tertiary education in the country – the National Universities Commission, National Board for Technical Education and the National Commission for Colleges of Education – have said they will sanction institutions that sell application forms for the conduct of the 2022/2023 admissions. The move was meant to curtail the high rate of irregular admissions conducted by institutions, PUNCH reports.
“What this means is that the university, not any external body, is guaranteed the power of admissions.
“The University of Abuja wishes to categorically and emphatically state that it has not conducted any illegal admissions, and has nothing to hide as far as its admission exercise is concerned.”
While noting that the university had one of the best and most transparent systems of admission in the country, he said it was the only federal university whose catchment area “is the whole of Nigeria, and truly and practically admits from all states of the country, while simultaneously upholding the principle of merit and excellence.”
