Bay Area performer finds new passion in teaching after pandemic forced her off the stage Lloyd Sowers reports TAMPA, Fla. - For more than a year, the lights have been off and performers have been out of work at theaters across the country. We came in for rehearsal and we were told we’re done, says Alexia Sky Colon. The 30-year-old from Tampa started dancing and singing when she was five years old. After graduating from Blake High School she began performing professionally until she eventually fulfilled her dream to perform on Broadway and then with the widely acclaimed production of Hamilton in Chicago.

JazzFest Main Street s annual JazzFest returns this year from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday to the Murfreesboro Public Square, with free live music from local and regional acts. JazzFest is focusing on student jazz bands from noon to 4 p.m., followed by performances by three professional acts, including:  4 p.m. The Bryan Cumming Band 5:30 p.m. Alison Brazil’s band and special guest Yamil Conga on the drums 7 p.m. Music City Swing   In addition to live music, there will be a dozen food trucks and an interactive Kids Alley featuring hands-on musical activities. Discovery Center will lead their “Shake, Rattle, and Roll” clinic at 10 a.m. on the stage in front of the historic Rutherford County Courthouse. Starting at 11 a.m., renowned musician Yamil Conga will lead a music clinic held at The Center for the Arts, 110 W. College St., where he will perform on his drums and talk about culture, music and drumming.

The Center for the Arts and Center Stage Academy presents Tuck Everlasting at Cannonsburgh Village Mar 02, 2021 at 09:29 am by WGNS Murfreesboro, Tenn. – Take a step back in time and join the magical Tuck family for Center Stage Academy’s production of Tuck Everlasting performed by the Center for the Arts at Cannonsburgh Village. Center Stage Academy, the youth education program at the Center for the Arts, is excited to perform this classic play. Performances will be Friday, March 12 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, March 13 at 3:00 and 7:00 PM. “We are excited to present Tuck Everlasting to the community,” says Executive Director Patience Long. “Our small cast of 12 students has worked very hard to bring this production to life while navigating COVID-19 protocols. Their perseverance and hard-work over the past few months is incredible. We cannot wait for everyone to see the magic that director Denise Parton and this cast of students brings to the stage.”
